I'm pumped to share that I'll be sitting on a panel of branding professionals at an upcoming event hosted by John Bertino and the rest of the folks at the San Diego SEO Meetup.
The event is called "Brand Strategy 2014: The Keys To Crafting Authentic Stories." It will be held at the University of San Diego's Manchester Hall on May 7, 2014 at 6PM. Here's an excerpt from the event page:
"In an environment where advertisers are incessantly vying for our attention, how does a brand go about standing out from the pack? Moreover, how does a brand go about creating a real and authentic relationship with it’s customers while telling it’s story in a non-evasive, yet memorable way?"
I'm delighted that the organizers are focusing on authenticity as an event theme because to me, authenticity breeds great brands. Organizations (and/or founders) rooted in qualities like self-awareness, empathy and integrity naturally develop into revered and respected brands, but not because they are or hire "branding experts." There's something deeper at work -- in the culture, in the values, in the people -- that allows these companies to "be themselves" and build a great brand simultaneously.
Tickets are $20 in advance/$30 at the door. There will be a cash bar, and a free taco station!
Sign up/ticket purchase is on the event page.
See you on the 7th!
